Health, Safety and Training Supervisor The Health, Safety and Training Supervisor will provide expertise to help achieve site safety and training objectives. Ensure all personal actions and approaches support Manroc and Hemlo Mining Corp. goals for safety and sustainability. Drive-in Site - Local positions and some positions with Accommodations. 4/3 or 5/2 rotation. Client approved Site access. Drug and Alcohol Test. Accountabilities:
  • Ensure that all workers are provided with relevant safety information, training, medical treatment/information, protective devices, and procedures as required by the Occupational Health and Safety Act and the Regulations of this company.
  • Provide support to the site teams by maintaining a visible presence in the field.
  • Conduct safety audits and inspections to ensure consistent application of legislative and Company standards.
  • Review and analyze accident prevention programs and provide direction on improving the internal responsibility system.
  • Assist and mentor supervision in applying safety systems including Leading Indicators.
  • Demonstrate Continuous Improvement by identifying gaps in safe and efficient methods and seeking solutions to improve or eliminate those gaps.
  • Aid supervisors in developing and conducting monthly crew meetings and, monthly safety tours.
  • Ensure all hazards are reported and appropriate remedial actions implemented in a timely manner.
  • Collaborate with Manroc and Hemlo Mining Corp. personnel to lead and/or participate in incident/injury investigations as required.
  • Attend and participate in Joint Health and Safety Committee meetings and follow up on actions and recommendations.
  • Ensure safety objectives and targets are effectively enforced with crews through morning safety huddles and safety audits of workers.
  • Work with the training coordinator to deliver and manage site employee training and training records.
  • Work collaboratively with the Manroc Safety team, regarding site safety status and any assistance required.
  • Provide support and assistance to the Hemlo Mining Corp. team as required.
Qualifications:
  • Must possess Ontario Underground Common.
  • A minimum of five years of underground experience.
  • A minimum of two years in a safety orientated position.
  • Working knowledge of the Occupational Health and Safety Act and other related regulations.
  • Ability to understand and follow detailed oral and written instructions.
  • Computer knowledge and basic knowledge of Microsoft Office.
  • High level multi-tasking, strong organization, and attention to detail.
  • Excellent Communication and interpersonal skills.
  • First Line Supervisor Common Core certification is preferred.
  • Certified JHSC member would be an asset.
