Underground Mechanic

Job Summary

The Underground Mechanic is responsible for the preventative maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of diesel, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic underground mining equipment. Working closely with the maintenance team, the successful candidate will diagnose issues and implement safe, efficient solutions to support ongoing production and equipment reliability.

This role requires strong mechanical aptitude, attention to detail, and the ability to follow written and verbal instructions provided by the Lead Mechanic while maintaining a strong commitment to workplace safety.

Qualifications

Underground Supervisor

Job Summary

Reporting to the Site Superintendent, the Underground Supervisor is responsible for overseeing front-line employees and ensuring all contracting operations are carried out in a safe, productive, and efficient manner.

  • Night shift (11-hour shifts)
  • Fly-in or drive-in site

Scope & Responsibilities

The Underground Night Shift Supervisor will play a key role in maintaining and reinforcing site safety programs in collaboration with the Safety Department. Responsibilities include:

  • Continuously promoting and reinforcing a strong safety culture through coaching, communication, and field presence
  • Ensuring crews are properly supported with the tools, information, and resources required to complete work safely and efficiently
  • Upholding the “5-Point Safety System” and “Internal Responsibility System” to achieve optimal performance without compromising safety
  • Ensuring all work is completed in accordance with safe work procedures and that work areas remain clean, organized, and hazard-free
  • Maintaining compliance with company safety and environmental policies, as well as applicable legislation including the Ministry of Labour and Ministry of Environment
  • Identifying, reporting, and correcting unsafe conditions or practices and communicating concerns promptly to management

Alimak Mechanic

Job Summary

The Alimak Mechanic is responsible for performing preventative maintenance, troubleshooting, and repairs on diesel, electrical, hydraulic, and air-powered underground mining equipment, with a focus on Alimak systems.

Working as part of a skilled maintenance team, the successful candidate will diagnose mechanical issues and implement safe, efficient solutions to minimize downtime and support production targets. Strong attention to detail and the ability to accurately follow both written and verbal instructions from the Lead Mechanic are essential in this role.

  • Rotating days and nights
  • 10-hour shifts
  • Fly-in or drive-in site

Qualifications

  • Valid Ontario Journeyman Ticket or equivalent (asset)
  • Ontario Underground Hard Rock Common Core (asset)
